The Madolyn Crysler Art, Nursing & Science Scholarship Established Through Bequest
The Madolyn Crysler Art, Nursing & Science Scholarship was recently established through a generous estate gift to Murray State University Foundation by Madolyn (Lyn) Crysler. Awards from this fund shall be given to full-time junior and senior students at Murray State University majoring in art, nursing, biology or chemistry. Recipients shall have a 3.0 GPA and a need for financial assistance.
Lyn Crysler received a nursing degree in Houston, Texas, in 1944, but quickly decided that she didn't care for the restrictive schedule of health care. So the next year she earned her pilot's license, became a secretary at Kelly Air Force Base and later started her own management consultant firm.
Lyn and her husband eventually built a home on Kentucky Lake, and she began her career at Murray State University in the Department of Biology as secretary for the chairman. After a few years she became the director of the computer center, where she taught students and faculty how to use computers.
During her lifetime, Lyn was a professional artist and a published author who enjoyed dancing, designing costumes, performing in musical productions and helping others. Lyn's gift ensures that her legacy at Murray State University will live on.
Like Lyn, you can make a gift in your estate plan that helps future Murray State University students achieve their educational goals. Please contact Dr. David Durr, CFA, CFP® at 270-809-6912 or ddurr@murraystate.edu to learn more.
